The Grove Retirement Village and new aged care facility approved in Canberra

A Development Application for the circa $80 million Gold Creek Homestead development, which will be an extension to the adjoining The Grove Retirement Village in Ngunnawal, and new residential aged care facility have been approved.

The Grove extension will deliver 45 new two- and three-bedroom independent villas with internal garage access and private covered alfresco entertaining.

The project will also include a separate 124-bed residential aged care facility to be delivered by Arcare Aged Care, offering a continuum of care that is in high demand in the region.

The historic Gold Creek Homestead will be retained, restored and activated to acknowledge the precinct’s rich heritage, and transformed into a purpose-built amenity space surrounded by green open space and manicured gardens for residents and the greater community to enjoy.

Future residents of The Grove’s Gold Creek extension will enjoy the benefits of moving into a preestablished community, with quality leisure facilities such as an exclusive clubhouse complete with a library, gym, heated indoor swimming pool, village green and gardens, connected walking trails, and much more.

Construction of the Gold Creek Homestead development will create important trade and technical jobs throughout the development and build phase, as well as operational jobs for the aged care facility and retirement village on completion.

The precinct and aged care residence are both expected to start construction mid-2023 with new villas available for purchase later this year.

John Bruzzaniti, General Manager of Development VIC/ACT, Lendlease, said : “Receiving the green light from council to get started on our new development brings us one step closer to delivering a vibrant, intergenerational community that is sustainable, inclusive and builds on our existing connection with the local area.

“The new precinct will also help meet the high demand for independent living retirement homes and residential aged care in Canberra.”
